Hello tellurntime-ga,

Are you looking for just a simple figure of number of soldiers lost in
Germany and Japan after WWII -- many of these deaths were accidents
(car crashes, etc), or were along the line of barroom brawls that got
out of hand, rather than deaths from enemy insurgents.

Perhaps you can let us know a bit more about what, specifically,
you're looking for.

Curiously enough, there were Japanese soldiers in the Philippines who
did not surrender until many years after the war had ended, but they
lived solitary lives and seemed not to have carried on any resistance.

Hlabadie is referring to Hiroo Onoda, one of four stragglers who
stayed on Lubang Island after the war. WW2 was over and they didn't
know it. Of the four, one found the truth and surrendered early, two
were killed and Onoda was the last left, and didn't surrender until
his former commanding officer in WW2 was brought back to order him to
stand down in 1974. It turns out the stragglers had killed some locals
and had several clashes with local police.
