Oscar ("Ossie") Schectman was in the class of 1937 at Tilden High
School in Brooklyn.  As you probably know, Schectman, also a graduate
of Long Island University, is reputed to have scored the first points
in NBA history, and was inducted into the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame
in 1998.
