I'm looking for a solution to a Final Cut Pro or After Effect problem
I'm having when I go from my digital video and view it on a
television. I shot my video with a shutter speed of 1/60 and used a
green screen to shoot live action puppets. When I print to video and
viewed it on my minidv through my television, the movements looked
jerky to me. I don't know if this was due to the shutter speed or
something to do with interlacing (or if I should have done something
with interlacing). The edges look very angular and rough rather than
smooth lines.

Can you describe your viewing setup in detail? Have you plugged the
television into your miniDV camera, which is playing back the tape?
Are you playing back from the computer? The latter solution will cause
jerkiness, but the former should not.

Did you do a full render in FCP? And how have you moved vidoe between
AE and FCP? What camera are you using? Also, what are you project
settings in AE, and the capture settings in FCP?

I should be able to provide some assistance, if you can answer these questions.

Adelhashi --

I don't know Final Cut Pro, but thought your question would interest a
tech support friend of mine. He said, "I see this kind of thing all
the time and every time the cause is something different. Something
is happening to the file and there are about 50 different settings in
Final Cut and After Effects that could cause frame stuttering and
field problems-- that's how complicated it all is.

But he offered a few suggestions:
1. Go to Easy Set Up and make sure DV settings are selected.
2. Try somebody else's camera for playback.

Hope you solve it!
