Good Day rici55-ga,
Compliments on the web design. Great website!
Now that you have the website in tip-top shape, let's look at some
basic website promotion.
There is really only one place I would recommend submitting your
website when it comes to getting listed with search engines. That
place is dmoz.org . Dmoz, or the Open Directory, is a human edited
index of websites. Google uses dmoz for much of it's own content, so
getting a listing at dmoz.org will result in a Google listing.
For more information on dmoz.org, and other basics, see

From here on, Yahoo, Netscape Search, AOL Search and many others will
pick up your website automatically because they are powered by Google.
I would recommend that at this point you submit your site to some
local directories. They are a great way to get a little extra
traffic, but more importantly contribute to your backlinks count.
Backlinks and PageRank (PR) go hand in hand. What is PageRank?
PageRank Explained
"PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using
its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value.
In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote,
by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume
of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that
casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important"
weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important." Source:

Acquiring backlinks is an important part of ensuring that your website
is listed high on the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). All of this
of course is tied in with the relevant keywords, which brings me to my
next point. Keywords.
Choosing the right keywords can be a tricky task, but there is a tool
that will make life a little easier.
Website: Overture - Search Term Suggestion Tool
URL: http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/
I have done a search for "ergonomical desk" using the above tool, and
it looks like no one did any searches for this term on Overture in the
month September. Probably not a very good term to target!
Doing a search for "computer furniture" gave me the number of searches
done for the term, as well as some other similar terms that might be
of interest to us:
15661 computer furniture
1446 computer lab furniture
1421 computer desk furniture
1077 ergonomic computer furniture
1024 home computer furniture
881 home office computer furniture
626 computer office furniture
368 classroom computer furniture
313 computer workstation furniture
310 school computer furniture
294 furniture computer armoire
261 office furniture computer desk
196 child computer furniture
171 computer room furniture
166 sauder computer furniture
161 computer custom furniture manufacture
151 computer furniture direct
138 kid computer furniture
137 discount computer furniture
133 wood computer furniture
122 corner computer furniture
108 bush computer furniture
107 home office furniture computer desk
I've cut off the listings at the hundred mark... The full results kept
going down to 25 for "furniture computer work station".
While the number of searches will differ for Google, the overture tool
gives you a pretty good idea of what is a good search term to target.
Unfortunately, I am not aware of a similar tool that uses Google
numbers.
Before you decide to use "computer furniture" as your main key terms,
consider the competition you will encounter for such a popular and
common search term. Getting a listing on the top of page 1 for this
term would require tremendous amount of work, and many thousands of
dollars in professional search engine optimisation (SEO) fees. All
this, and chances are the results would not be guaranteed! What does
all this mean to you? Do a search for a term that Overture suggested
and see how many results you get. If the number is 250,000 or less, I
would say that with a little time and reading up on the subject, you
can make it to page one of the results. Aim for a keyword with more
results than 250,000 and you are either setting yourself up for
disappointment, or are looking at spending big bucks in getting a top
listing (computer furniture has over 3.1 million results!).
Considering that a top listing does not always equal to top sales,
only top exposure, you should consider setting your aim on a realistic
and achievable search term, at least when first launching your
website.
From the terms suggested by overture, the first search term that has
has 250,000- matches is "computer lab furniture" (1446 searches were
done for this term in September). If you feel that the majority of
people searching for "computer lab furniture" would be interested in
your product, I would recommend this as your main key phrase.
I will not speculate further on what your needs may be. I hope that
the tools I have offered above will do the job in giving you exactly
what you are looking for. I will be happy to assist you in using
these tools to accomplish your specific goals. Please feel free to
ask for a clarification regarding any of the above described processes
and ideas.
