I have done alot of volunteer work with a certain NGO in Croatia and Bosnia and Kosovo. But I had to pay my own way. Loved the work but not the pay. I have searched the web to try and find an NGO that is currently working in the Bulkan area that pays. I have a wide variety of work experience including returning refugees back to thier home's help set a a rec center for kids and a variety of logistic jobs. I currently work with kids as After School Care Dir. (willing to pay more for answer wasn't real sure how to price this one) |

Dear Bobritt, There are several sites that list vacancies in the NGO and humanitarian sector. Reliefweb <http://www.reliefweb.int/vacancies/> lists currently: - 3 vacancies in Croatia (all for Hulla & Co. Human Dynamics KG) - 4 vacancies in Serbia and Montenegro (for various organisations: UN, EU, Mercy Corps) - 5 vacancies in what the advertisers called "Yugoslavia" AlertNet <http://www.alertnet.org/thepeople/jobs/> lists currently: - 4 vacancies in Albania <http://www.alertnet.org/thepeople/jobs/index.htm?fb_membercodes=&fb_countrycodes=152485&gofilter=GO> - 4 in Bosnia <http://www.alertnet.org/thepeople/jobs/index.htm?fb_membercodes=&fb_countrycodes=152632&gofilter=GO> - 4 vacancies in Croatia <http://www.alertnet.org/thepeople/jobs/index.htm?fb_membercodes=&fb_countrycodes=214396&gofilter=GO> - 3 in Serbia/Montenegro - 3 in Slovenia <http://www.alertnet.org/thepeople/jobs/index.htm?fb_membercodes=&fb_countrycodes=220132&gofilter=GO> Idealist <http://www.idealist.org/ip/idealist/Home/default?SID=51c17725165a7675853519eecc09c5e9> lists currently only one vacancy in the region, but is a good source for job-seekers. DevNet <http://www.devnetjobs.org/> lists several vacancies in their site. Dev Zone <http://www.dev-zone.org/jobs/> also list few jobs If you're American, two organisations may have jobs for you: The Foreign Policy Association <http://www.fpa.org/jobs_contact2423/jobs_contact.htm> The Peace Corps <http://www.peacecorps.gov/> (they also have employees, not only volunteers). InterAction <http://www.interaction.org/jobs/> lists jobs, but is fee-based. International Aid Workers' Network <http://www.expats-network.com/welcome.htm> also has job ads. A good collection of links to work places exists in ELDIS: http://www.eldis.org/news/jobs.htm And even a better one, annotated, is in Aid Workers.net: http://www.aidworkers.net/personal/jobsites.htm A listing of Human Rights -related jobs is at the Human Rights Internet: <http://www.hri.ca/jobboard/joblinks.shtml> Naturally, you could also contact the organisations themseleves: UNESCO <http://portal.unesco.org/en/ev.php@URL_ID=11707&URL_DO=DO_TOPIC&URL_SECTION=201.html> UNHCR <http://www.unhcr.ch/cgi-bin/texis/vtx/home?page=admin&id=3ba1bdcb7> Intl. Red Cross <http://www.icrc.org/Web/eng/siteeng0.nsf/html/jobs?OpenDocument> Care <http://www.careusa.org/careers/index.asp> UNDP <http://www.undp.org/mainundp/jobs/index.html> Oxfam <http://www.oxfamamerica.org/about/art1552.html> IRC (International Rescue Committee) <http://www.theirc.org/index.cfm?section=jobs> Amazon.com lists several books: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/sim-explorer/explore-items/-/084422295X/0/ref=pd_sexpl_d_b/104-2150807-1268712 I hope this helped. In order to find these sites I mainly used my experience and knowledge (sorry...), and less the search engine, although this search term certainly helps: Humanitarian jobs I wish you lots of success in finding a job, and it warms my heart to know that there are still people like you out there!
