Hi,
Thanks for the response.  I understand this question may be somewhat
subjective since i'm sure there are many different views of
"suppressed" women. I'm looking for some facts on extreme cases, for
example the way women have been treated in Afganistan.  Contrary to
some feminists, i do not believe that women in America fall under this
category inspite of a percieved glass ceiling.

I don't think this question is answerable unless some clear guidelines
are given regarding the term "suppressed." Some feminists would say
that virtually all women everywhere are "suppressed."

Likewise, "gender disparity" is a vague enough term that it may be
difficult to find any meaningful statistics; often it's difficult to
determine whether certain social differences between men and women are
justifiable by biological differences, or whether actual
discrimination is being practiced.
