Dear jefffromgreen-ga; Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting question. The last episode of ?The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet? (which began in 1952) was broadcast on September 3, 1966. Seven years down the road in 1973 someone got the bright idea to try it again in the form of a sequel based on the original series called "Ozzie?s Girls?, but it ultimately, and relatively quickly, proved to be a dismal failure. Here is a blurb about the failed sitcom: ?Seven years later, Ozzie got back into television with a lame sequel called ?Ozzie's Girls? wherein the Nelsons rent the boys' room to two young women. David Nelson produced this poorly received effort.? COSMIC BASEBALL ASSOCIATION http://www.cosmicbaseball.com/97tsr.html I hope you find that my research exceeds your expectations. If you have any questions about my research please post a clarification request prior to rating the answer. Otherwise I welcome your rating and your final comments and I look forward to working with you again in the near future. Thank you for bringing your question to us. Good job. Thanks for all the comments as well - if one of the comments is the answer they (radio quiz) were looking for, I'll post a special followup (to hlabadie). Incidentally, regarding Dragnet, it was 7 years and 4 months between episodes, so it may still qualify. |

The Perry Mason Show Book (2.15) http://www.oz.net/~daveb/pmbook/pmb_c215.htm "As soon as "Perry Mason" left the air in 1966, CBS went to work trying to find another good "puzzle show." It took seven years and more than a million dollars in pilots and scripts. All of them were failures." [...[ "Then, after the seven-year search and a ton of money thrown away, CBS finally came up with its new puzzle show: "The New Perry Mason Show."" Not a sequel, but a revival. hlabadie-ga |

One possible answer could be "The Prisoner," which aired in 1968, and which many viewers took to be a sequel to "Danger Man," a 1961 show. There are a couple of drawbacks to this theory: 1. In between the two there was another show, "Secret Agent" (1965-1966). 2. The main character in "The Prisoner" may or may not be John Drake, of "Danger Man." http://www.poobala.com/dangersecretprisoner.html Another possibility: "The New Odd Couple," which began in 1982, was a remake of "The Odd Couple," which ended its run in 1975: http://www.poobala.com/newandodd.html Whether a remake qualifies as a "sequel," I don't know. |

"Dragnet" had an eight-year lapse between the original and the sequel. Dragnet http://www.mysterynet.com/tv/profiles/dragnet/ ""Dragnet" actually covered some very tough issues during its two television runs as well. When TV Guide and Nick at Nite chose the "100 Greatest Episodes of All Time," it was no surprise to see "Dragnet"'s 1967 "Blue Boy" episode (aka "The LSD Story") on the list. This show, dealing with LSD use among Los Angeles teens, marked the return of "Dragnet" after an eight-year absence, and also marked a move toward more hard-boiled episodes." hlabadie-ga |

The first series of the BBC comedy 'The Likely Lads' finished in 1966. The sequel 'Whatever happened to the likely lads' was shown in 1973. I think that is the answer |
