I'm doing research on radical 19th century historical figures and I
need to know the following in detail :

1. Who was the individual that was part of Fanny Wright's childhood
and young adult years that shaped her thinking and prompted Wright to
fight on behalf of social causes.

2. Of all the reform efforts Wright endorsed, which did she most
consistently support throughout her lifetime?

Hughbert --

There's not a lot about Francis and Camille Wright on the Internet but
I've found a source that speculates on 3 potential influences. Her
father was a proponent of the ideas of Thomas Paine, who was
significantly more radical than most of the leadeers of the American
Revolution, believing that the same rights accrued to all men -- not
just property-holders.

But both father and mother were dead before age 3. The aunt and uncle
who became the guardians of the two girls were not the free-thinking
influence, in fact Fanny ran away from their home at age 18.

It's thin information, but along with a bibliography on Frances
Wright, you may find it helpful. Let me know if you'd like that
information posted or if you've moved beyond that stage.

Best regards,

Greetings Hughbert:

The website at http://www.onthenet.com.au/~gmylne/mylne/francisawright_m.htm
goes into extreme detail about Wright, Lafayette and Nashoba, a
"utopian" site that Wright created to assist slaves.

1. Lafayette in young adult years (not certain about her childhood in
Scotland - it may have been her sister Camilla)

2. Human rights and equality (racial amalgamation)

Currently I am unable to go into detail concerning your answer but the
link above will serve to enlighten you and perhaps a Researcher
colleague will be able to thoroughly answer your question.

Best regards,
journalist-ga
