I sell a product that can be seen at
http://awardmakersak.com/special_product_01.html
There is only 1 supplier that I can find and I would like to find
another (preferably less expensive). These are solid brass candy bowls
that I believe are actually made in Mexico. The supplier is Saxton
Industries in southern Calif. Can you help me?

Alaskan-ga,

Thanks for your question. In my experience, it is next to impossible
to track down foreign manufacturers of specific items, but I'll
certainly give it a shot to see if I can learn anything. In the mean
time:

1. Can you identify the actual product on the Saxton Industrial site:

http://www.saxtonindustrial.com/default.asp

It looks like it might be one of the "Golden Line" nugget pans, but
it's hard to tell.

2. Have you considered having custom-ordering a similar product from
an overseas brass manufacturer? If you annually order a significant
number (I would guess several dozen, at least), you might be able to
find a brass manufacturer who will make these to your specifications
at a competitive price.

3. Please provide whatever specifics you can about the award -- its
size (diamter of bowl and insert)and depth, any design details (e.g.
is there a rim at the bottom, etc). What leads you to believe it is
made in Mexico?

Any additional information you can provide would be a great help in
researching this.

Thanks.

Hello,

Just thought I'd check in to see if you've had a chance to read over
my earlier message. If so, any additional information you can provide
would be a help in researching your question.

Cheers.

Yes, those are the items from Saxton. http://www.saxtonindustrial.com/default.asp
The sizes I use are approximately 8", 12" and 14" in diameter. I can
take some close up pictures and send them to you if you would like.
Several years ago there used to be stickers on the back of the pans
that said Mexico. The top edges are polished but the main part of the
pan is brushed brass. I would not be opposed to having these made but
don't know where to start finding someone to do this. Let me know if
you want more info.

Thanks for your help

Hello Lynn,

Thanks for the update.

I believe I can help you out on your quest, but I want to be clear
about what I can provide...and what I cannot.

I can definitely provide you leads to a number of overseas companies
who do custom-manufacturing of brass goods, and who seem to have the
capability of creating brass bowls very similar (and quite possibly
indistinguishable) from the ones you are currently using.

A good deal of the world's brass manufacturing activity for
housewares, trophies, crafts and the like is centered in India these
days...many of the company contacts I would provide would be in India,
but there are probably contacts in other countries as well.

What I CANNOT tell you, is how much the companies' would charge for
custom-manufacturing your bowls. That depends on a great many
variables, and you would have to "talk" (via email) directly to the
companies to strike a deal. However, they do tend to be very
competitive.

I believe there is a good chance that such leads would result in your
finding a manufacturer that can provide the bowls you need at a
desirable price -- however, I cannot guarantee that this would be the
outcome.

Let me know if this type of information would suffice as an answer to
your question. (If not, perhaps you can suggest an alternate way of
moving forward on this).

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I think your suggestions of suppliers would work fine. If we try that
way and it doesn't work then we could try and alternative.

I do appreciate you prompt help.

Hello again Lynn, and thanks for the timely feedback.

I?ve provided a list, below, of overseas manufacturers of brassware,
most of whom are based in India. Many of the company websites display
very ornate items that they manufacture -- statues and the like --
but with a bit of digging, it is also clear that they make ?plainer?
items like bowls and dishes. I did not post any company information
unless it seemed very likely that they offer custom manufacturing and
could meet your needs.

There are many other companies, potentially, to choose from. If for
any reason the contacts below do not meet your needs, please don?t
hesitate to let me know, and I will continue to work with you until we
find the best sourcing solution for the items you are seeking.

Best of luck in your ventures.

This company, KVR Intexx, is a bit different from the others, as they
seem to be both a manufacturer as well as a middle-man, acting to
source items from numerous factories in India. They may be worth
contacting as they may have multiple sources for brasswares within
India that they are familiar with, and could probably seek out the
most competitive price from several suppliers:

The sites listed below looked promising as well, but they did not
specifically indicate that they provide custom manufacturing services
(though I suspect they do):

http://www.exoticindianproducts.com/index.html

http://www.indiamart.com/jamsonsenterprises/

http://www.indiamart.com/rihexports/

http://www.indiamart.com/hotelwares/#dishes

==========

I trust you?ll find that one or more of these sites will fully meet
your needs. But as I said above, if these contacts do not pan out --
for any reason -- let me know, and I?ll dive right back in to continue
working on finding the best sources possible for your needs.

search strategy: relied on existing bookmarks for manufacturers
directory sites, as well as Google searches on:

(?brass bowl? OR ?brass dish? OR brassware) manufacturer

and related terms.

I was wondering if you have found an answer about your brass candy
bowls. I sell cusom lapel pins and other promotional items and one of
the links to my website is http://www.baybronze.com/. They make
bronze and brass promotional items. They might be able to help you.

Thanks,
