Question ID: 27361
I won an automotive accessory website, which currently receives
300-500 unique hits per day. I use overture, AltaVista CPC and
Goggle's AdWords to generate search hits.
I am looking for effective targeted advertising that will drive many
more visitors per day. Price range would be between $1000-$2000.
Please visit my website - www.veneerz.com to better understand the
product which I sell.
Prices are highly competitive (lowest on the internet outside of eBay)
and quality of the product is very high.

Hi there,

First of all let me say that I really enjoyed browsing through your
site. I beleive it could be quite successful with enough traffic. So
thus on to your question:

Question #1: Who are your potential customers

As far as I can tell you offer dashes for a wide range of cars, so you
want to reach pretty much the entire "class" market. One thing I
noticed was that the dashes were only available in general for 1999
and later models. So you would want people who have either new cars or
late-model used cars. Also the geographic location you are targeting
is important.

Question #2: Why should a customer buy from you?

You've already mentioned price and quality, but what also consider
delivery speed, range of available dashes (different manufacturers
etc), support and warranty available. All this information should be
clearly stated on the website.

Since I'm assuming that you are interested only online advertising
mediums the above questions can effectively provide you with the
information you need. Now you need to consider advertisement design
(graphics/message etc) as well as WHERE to advertise.

Ad Design:

Since you will not be dealing with a full blown marketing firm, you
are most likely going to have to look into getting someone to sit down
as decide how to portray your message most effectively.

Advertising Methods Online:

1. Search engines - you've mentioned that you've done a little of
this, but the fact is there are a LOT of other search engines out
there. My advice would be to hire the services of a search engine
submission service such as this one:
http://www.addme.com/

Also, some information you may find interesting on how search engines
work and how you could use this information to your advantage:
http://searchenginewatch.com/webmasters/

2. Advertisement exchanges - these are groups of websites that
advertise on each others sites OR pay the other sites on the basis of
clicks/leads/purachases. The best option here would be an exchange
that contained automotive-related sites.

3. 3rd-party Marketing Intermediary - this is a company where people
in your situation often register. The idea is that you provide them
with your site links and ad links (text or graphics) and they add you
to the list of advertisers. You specify what you are willing to pay
per click/lead/purchase and other people looking to generate revenue
from their sites can register to provide you that service. You can
also usually have restrictions (in your case you want a website that
is automotive related). If no results are obtained, you don't
pay...simple as that.

That's about all the solutions that are feasible under your budget
constraints. I hope this was helpful for you...please post a
clarification if any of the information above is unclear.

Cheers!

Hi again,

Forgot to add a link to a 3rd party intermediary I meant to include. Here it is:

Well, first, I did try to register with www.cj.com , however my
application was rejected, because my traffic was too low. How strange
is that?
Is there any other affiliate system which does not have such harsh
requirements? BTW CJ also requires a $3000 initial deposit.
Secondly, how reliable these search engine placement and optimization
services? Do they look into every situation or they just put you in
the search engine and let you lay somewhere on the bottom of 378 page?
Thirdly, I really do not like pop-unders, overs or exit banners. As a
web browser myself I find these things quite annoying and really would
not like my potential customers to be a bit annoyed by my site.

Hi there,

CJ does have a minimum traffic requirement; though they are a very
good company to deal with it seems they are trying to cater to
high-end sites. Here is a link that provides information about some
other such services that you may want to look into:
http://www.whichaffiliate.com/automotive-parts.html

Regarding the submission services, they "crawl" your site as well as
take a list of keywords that you would like your pages to be listed
in. Usually these are quite good but obviously you aren't going to get
to the top of a search on "cars" or "stereos"...it usually has to be
somewhat specific bu they are usually a big improvement over your
initial ranking.

Hi!
I have been doing worldwide promotion for an exporter via the net and
its an on going process.
You can also concentrate on your SE ranking besides PPC. Once you have
acheived top 20 positions in top search engines you can perhaps
contact various automobile organisations and tell them about you
product.
