Hello pravoslavnaya-ga!

Thank you for an interesting question! Yes, you are referring to
?renaissance fairs? or ?renaissance festivals? and they can be great
fun! I?m excited to share with you the information that I have found
to answer your question!

The top fairs are all very close in numbers, so I will list several
?top? festivals for you, but the biggest in the nation seems to be
this one, in Texas: http://www.texrenfest.com/. And not only is it an
annual renaissance festival, it is also a renaissance theme park! It
seems that, indeed, everything IS big in Texas!

A media plug calling this fair the ?biggest renaissance festival in
the nation? can be found here:
http://thebards.net/shows/venues/Texas_Renaissance_Fest.shtml.

From this press release
(http://www.texrenfest.com/pressreleases/03%20backgrounder.doc), we
learn more. This specifically states, ?The festival continues to grow,
from 33,000 patrons that first year, to 300,000+ a year presently,
making it the largest renaissance theme-park in the country?

More interesting media facts from their own press release can be found
here: http://www.texrenfest.com/pressreleases/texas%20renaissance%20festival%202003%20media%20fact%20sheet.doc

This festival boasts an arena, gardens, wedding chapels, 21 stages
with over 200 performances daily, 300+ Arts and Crafts Shoppes, and
over 3,000 costumed characters daily!

And in case you?re interested in a few more large-scale fairs, this
link from ABCNEWS.com
(http://216.239.41.104/search?q=cache:e9fZrGXOvWcJ:abcnews.go.com/sections/travel/DailyNews/Renaissance001128.html+renaissance+fair+biggest+U.S.&hl=en&ie=UTF-8)
talks about some of the biggest renaissance festivals in the nation
and after a little more digging, I?ve been able to find a great
website resource for you.

This article lists fairs and corresponding attendance in Minnesota
(330,000), Michigan (249,000), and Kansas City (200,000). Also, this
article goes on to explain that all 3 of these festivals are owned by
Mid-America Festivals Inc.

I did some additional research and found a website with which I
believe you?ll be pleased: http://www.renaissancefest.com/. Here you
will find links to all 3 websites for the above-mentioned, respective
festivals. Here, you can find some interesting facts that you may
enjoy: http://www.renaissancefest.com/funfacts.html.

Thank you for an interesting question. If you are planning to attend
any or all of these festivals, I hope you have a wonderful time! You
know, I?ve always been a bit interested in attending one of these
after hearing so many great things about them. And now, after
answering your question, I?m even more intrigued! Thank you! If
anything is unclear, please let me know how I can clarify the
information for you. Thank you, again!

Sincerely,
Boquinha-ga
