Where can I purchase the materials needed to make our own teddy bears
for a child' party? Kind of like the build-a-bear workshop concept,
only we want to buy and make our own bears in our studio.

I just called  Basic Brown Bear Factory at  1-800-554-1910.  They're
definitely still in business, but closed until Monday.  If you have
any questions about the sort of the teddy bear kits that they sell,
I'd be happy to give them a call on Monday.  Let me know if you'd like
