What makes photographic film work is a very thin layer of a light sentive chemical that has silver in it. When the film is developed, this silver (yes, like in money) is rinsed off and goes down the drain. I would like to contact the company (ies) that make some electrical gadget that is fitted into the drain line and "picks up" the silver. Fill free to ask me questions on how I can be clearer for you in my question.

It appears that the leading names in silver recovery equipment are USI, CPAC, and Rotex. Each of these companies offers a variety of silver recovery devices: USI http://www.usi-usi.com/SMG-Broch/slvrmag.htm CPAC http://www.cpacequipment.com/ Rotex http://www.rotexsilver.com/products.htm If your budget is limited, you might want to investigate buying used equipment. Currently eBay has several silver recovery units: eBay http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&krd=1&from=R8&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=silver+recovery+unit Here are some silver recovery units at attractive prices: Photographics Supply, Inc. http://client-141-151-133-37.photosupplyinc.com/catalog/products.aspx?cat=4&sub=sr The least expensive product I've found is the "Silver Magnet," available from Porter's Camera Store for only $34.95: Porter's Camera Store http://porterscamerastore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=pcs&Product_Code=22-1063&Category_Code= The search string that worked best for me was this one: Google Web Search: "silver recovery unit" ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%22silver+recovery+unit I hope this helps! As always, I'll be glad to offer further assistance if anything is unclear, or if a link doesn't function. Buena Suerte! pinkfreud
