Dear teddy2501-ga;

As a 20 plus year member of law enforcement, and myself the founder of
a world recognized law enforcement officer?s memorial, I have at least
some insight into almost every incident involving a US law enforcement
officer killed in the line of duty dating back to 1791.

Having said that, I am not aware of the incident you are referring to.
Perhaps if you had any better details however insignificant, it might
help with the research.

Could this by chance have been an officer from Pontiac, Michigan? I
know of two officers who were killed in the line of duty there in 1937
but do not know many details regarding those incidents beyond the
names and dates of those killed.

Regards;
Tutuzdad-ga

The location is Pontiac, Illinois. The officer was with the sheriff
department. He may have been part time and called in to help with the
search for the escapee. He was shot and killed by the escapee during
his search of the escapees home on howard street in Pontiac, illinois
