I am job hunting and have special experience in franchising. I am
seeking a list of all franchisors (regardless of industry, hotel,
restaurant etc)  that have their corporate headquarters in MN. For
example International Dairy Queen is a franchisor located in MN.
McDonalds is a franchisor located in IL even though it has hundreds of
locations in MN. While it would be nice to have an address of
telephone, I can easily find those if I just have the name of the
company. This is not the same as the list of all franchisors
registered to sell franchises in MN since there are about 700
franchisors ( located all over usa) that are registered with the state
of MN to sell franchises to be operated in MN. There are probably
about 50 franchisors headquartered in MN.

Unfortunately their online resource isn't nearly as complete.

I can post it for you (extracting all of the MN corporations would take hours!)

The directory that you want is edited by Ted Dixon and has been
published annually for 34 years:

There were 3,175 companies in the 2002 directory in the U.S. alone. 
This year it's up to 3,225.  The handbook is $45.

However, I'd strongly recommend checking your local library.  Ours has
the current and several back years.  The Dewey decimal code is
658.8708.  Having looked at it yesterday, I can tell you that it's
very easy to use and will allow you to select Minnesota-based
companies very easily.

I did check the state Department of Commerce, but as with many states
they provide information on registering but little on existing
businesses.
