The Painting i am looking for is: Painted Pony by Paul Norton, apart
from the name and artist there's not a lot i can tell you, i think he
may of been English.

There's some paintings by Paul Norton at the web page blow, but none
of them look much like a pony:

I found two artists with this name: 

American (1909 d. 1984) - mostly water-colous in an impressionist/realist style. 

British (active 1980s onwards) - mixed mediums. This is the artist, to
whom my colleague Blazius refered.
