Question ID: 275157
OK, here is one for you people who like a challenge. I am looking to
obtain an electronic list of commercial properties, containing
address, owners name, owners mailing address, and size of lot. Since
the assesors office will charge for these listings, I will
electronically transfer you the money to pay for each listing as you
request. Your payment will then be obtained when I receive the
listing. here are some of the towns I am interested in Attleboro,
North Attleboro, Natick, MIlford, Canton, Dedham, Brockton,
Bridewater, Foxboro. Depending on the sucess of this question we will
add more towns and continue our mission. Payment will be $30 per
town, plus any fees required by the town. Minimum Townd required is 3
for $90

I've started in on the project. In the meantime, since you will be
paying for the assessor's fees, if you wouldn't mind increasing the
price of your question to $100, it would allow me to lock the question
for 8 hours at a time rather than 4 (since this question will take a
while to complete).

Thank you,

Hello again -

If you could please clarify:

When you say "address," are you speaking of the physical address of
the building, or the mailing address for the company?

If the "size of lot" information is not available, are you still
interested in the remaining information?

Thanks,

jbf777

My apologies! You can't change the question's price while I have it
locked. I have just unlocked it so you can change the price. Thanks.

Clarification of Question by td22ma-ga on 12 Nov 2003 15:15 PST
In regards to address, I need both the physical property address as
well as the mailing address. Also property lot size is very
important, so I will need the square footage of the lots.

OK, we've got 1 down and 2 to go. The North Attleborough office was
the first to respond. The cost of the report is $5. That takes care
of the first $5 of the $10 you added to the question list price. I'm
assuming you want this entirely hands off, correct? I.e., you want me
to handle all transactions with the offices and deliver you the
information in the answer without your talking to or transacting with
any of the offices?

Clarification of Question by td22ma-ga on 13 Nov 2003 20:59 PST
Yes JB< that would be best, if you can get me an electronic copy of
the listings, with the right information we will be good to go. As
more towns respond just let me know and I will make the appropriate
payments to you via any electronic method you want. SO far so good

Another town ready. This one will be $100. Awaiting the 3rd town.

I'm evaluating the best way for you to get the funds to me. I'll let you know.

Request for Question Clarification by jbf777-ga on 14 Nov 2003 12:28 PST
Tommy -

I've confirmed the 3rd location. Brockton is actually a city; is this
OK? This one will be $25. In addition, there are 300 properties
classified as "industrial" in the Brockton report. Are you interested
in those in addition to the commercial ones?

With regard to the additional funds for the report, the best way to do
this is for you to open 2 additional $2 questions to my attention.
For each question, put "For jbf777-ga" in the subject line.

For the first question, in the question body, write this text:

$25 funds for City of Brockton commercial properties report. See question 275157.

For the second question, in the question body, write this text:

$100 funds for Town of Bridgewater commercial properties report. See
question 27517.

After you've opened both of those questions, please let me know by
replying to this question. I will then "answer" those 2 questions
with a line such as "The report is forthcoming." You'll be notified
when I answer both of those questions. You can then return to those
questions, and for the first (Brockton) question, place a $23 tip on
the question. On the second (Bridgewater) question, place a $93 tip.

I will post an answer to this original question with the ($5) report
for North Attleborough.

There are a few reasons for doing it this way:

1) Researchers are confined to this site for transactions
2) Because I get 75% of any question's List Price, and 100% of tips,
we have to do it via tips in order for me to get the full amount for
the reports (otherwise you'd have to increase the list price to
compensate, and it would cost you more). In order to tip, an answer
has to actually be supplied first.
3) There are 2 additional questions and not 1 because there's a tip limit of $100.
4) The reason it's a $23 tip and not $25, is because I'm subtracting
out the $2 list price.
5) The reason it's a $93 tip and not $100 is because I'm subtracting
out the $2 list price plus the additional $5 remaining from this
original question that you kindly increased to $100 for the 8-hour
lock.

The reports should be here within 10 days and will be in Excel format.
I will supply a place for you to download them.

Sorry if this is at all confusing! If you have any questions, please
don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks,

jbf777

Hi Tommy -

Just checkin' in to see if you've read this and everything is doable.
I won't be able to act on anything until I get the funds from you,
since I will be paying for the reports directly.

That's no problem.

I was thinking this over a bit, and thought perhaps of a better way to
do this. What about mailing 3 checks made out to the appropriate
places and amounts, and sending them all to one place? I can then
forward the checks on and take it from there?

Hey Tommy -

Still there?

Clarification of Question by td22ma-ga on 18 Nov 2003 10:48 PST
JB I just had antoher idea, and this might make things real simple. I
will do a little more legwork if you set up a few more towns. What
you set up with the town to create the list and I drop off the check
at the town, or bring in the check to the town in order to process the
list whichever the town wants. I can make my way to each of the towns
we have discussed pretty easily they are all within 20 minutes of my
home. BUt since I will be doing a bit more legwork how about you set
up 10 Towns requesting the lists and setting it up so all I have to do
is walk in and drop off a check and they will hand me a disk. Let me
know what you think.

Tommy -

Sorry, I had actually responded to your idea, but I had to repost it
for internal reasons.

I think this is a good idea... Canton is no-go, because they don't
have a complete list. Do you have 5-6 more towns I can contact?

Once I've confirmed with 10 towns, and then faxed the requests over, I
will post the information as an answer. You can then drop the checks
off, and they will email me the information a few days later. I will
then tell you where you can get it.

thanks,

Attleboro, I am going to pass on Birdgewater for the $100 cost.
Additional towns include Canton, Fall River, Pawtucket, RI, Easton,
Newton, Avon, Franlin, Milford, Norwood, Taunton. There are ten more

Hey Tommy -

Do you want those properties that are classified as "industrial" as
well as "commercial?"

Clarification of Question by td22ma-ga on 19 Nov 2003 12:40 PST
JB,
Yeah I think both commercial and Industrial will be fine, let me give
you a little insight on why I am looking for these lists, I work for a
sealcoating company and now that it is the winter time, I will be
driving in circles looking at properties and trying to get in contact
with the owners/property managers in order to see if I can talk them
into a free estimate. So my theory is to have this list in hand as I
drive through the town and when I see a site that is in need of
repairs I will have the owners contact info. At least that is the
theory.

Ah, OK... I've got 8 of them confirmed. I'm having problems
locating an assessor's office for Pawtuck, RI, Avon, or Norwood. I'm
waiting to hear back on Foxboro and Easton. If you've got a few
others I can try, that would help in getting the full 10.

Just to let you know, the City of Attleborough's list will have some
30,000 properties and costs $250.

Thanks,

jbf777

In my official requests to the offices, I'm going to say "Tommy from

this OK?

Tommy from New England Sealcoating will be perfect, if you could get
me a name to ask for when I get to the assesors office would be great.
I am ready to go when you are, if you want to start getting some
lists, we don't have to wait til we have all 10 to drop of checks, we
can start Monday with checks

Tommy -

I wanted to get going on the faxes, so I didn't wait for your reply to
that name question (figured it wasn't a problem -- sorry about that);
I had already faxed them with "Tommy from the Sealcoating Company"
although Tommy from the New England Sealcoating Company would probably
work if you said it. They have been instructed to email me with the
reports. I will notify you as they come in. I have verified all
these addresses, so it should just be a matter of dropping off the
check. If there's any confusion with the office, the check can just
be delivered to the contact person listed (I've talked to each of
them), for the industrial and commercial properties report.

Here they are, in no particular order. Make sure to let me know if
you incur any problems:
