" I saw the paint run down the chestnut tree in a blaze of dappling
sunlight into Appaloosa Bay. My stockings were buckskin. Now they are
brown. It's all done now. I hang my head my head in sorrel." Anyone
with a little horse sense can figure this out. Tellus what thisquoet
is referring to and list each one.

This quote contains references to twelve words which are used in
describing horses' coloring.

In order, they are:

Paint
Roan (as 'run')
Chestnut
Blaze
Dapple (as 'dappling')
Appaloosa
Bay
Stockings
Buckskin
Brown
Dun (spelled in the quote as 'done')
Sorrel

Most of these terms refer to colors; "Appaloosa" is a breed of horse
whose coat has a spotted pattern. "Blaze" and "Stockings" refer to
markings, usually light-colored ones, on the forehead and legs,
respectively.

I didn't need to use Google to answer this one: when I was younger, I
was very fond of horses, and the names related to horses' coloring
just jumped out at me as I read the quote in your question.

Best regards,
pinkfreud
