My desktop, with WinXP Pro, loads and rins satisfactorily an old DOS
program that I use to follow my stock market investments. But my just
acquired IBM X31 notebook, also using WinXP Pro, will load the program
but the up and down arrows don't work, making it useless. IBM
technical service have no solution and Microsoft says it is IBM's
problem as WinXP came already loaded on the notebook. I have tried all
the usual nostrums, "compatibity", etc. I can run the DOS program if I
boot directly into DOS but since X31 is an ultralite that means I
would have to cart the extra "ultrabase" around with me. I have
Partition Magic and BootMagic so I could set up a dual boot system
EXCEPT Microsoft insists that DOS be installed BEFORE WinXP but my
computer already has WinXP installed. Can someone help?

Hi Cranner,

I think I may have a solution for you, but I just want to be clear
about whether this program really works under DOS or if it's just
faulty under the Command Prompt in Windows. You say that you could
boot to a DOS partition and run it from there, so am I correct in
assuming that you have tried booting directly to DOS to run the
program? Did the arrow keys work correctly for you when you did that?

Thanks,

Hibiscus

Yes. It runs perfectly in DOS.
