I am getting black bands with my Minolta Dimage Multi Pro. Minolta
have returned this item three times. I have reinstalled the software
on the original and another computer. The problem persists - any
advice or help please?

Hi Andymillar,

Can you tell us the comments of Minolta regarding the problem?

Can you upload a sample image output of your scanner and give us the
link so we can look at it?

Regards,
Feilong

This MIGHT be standard practice with your scanner. Space that the
object being scanned does not cover up could be turning into strips of
black. If the rest of the document looks fine, but you have a big
black strip on top and/or bottom of it, then just crop it out. Or
better yet, the software you use to do this should have an automatic
cropping option in which it removes the black strips.

If you're getting these strips all across your documents, then there
is something wrong with the scanner. By "Minolta has returned this
scanner 3 times" do you mean you have exchanged for a new one 3 times
or you sent it off for warranty and they "fixed" it and sent the same
one back to you 3 times?

In any case, if you've tried on 2 different computers and keep getting
the same result, I would lean towards the scanner being defective, in
which case you might need to lean on Minolta and have them replace it.
(If they already haven't, given the circumstances I've stated before)
