Depression". He originally opened a meat market/grocery on North Main
Street. His first barbecue pits were located in a tin shed behind the
meat market/grocery store across from the current restaurant location.
Edgar Black, Jr. explains that his dad started barbecuing because in
those days you normally processed the whole cow and the shoulder
meat/clod was hard to sell unless it was barbecued...?
