Hi, My name is Camilla and I am a costume design assistant. I am
looking for images and general information about Swedish Queen Lovisa
Ulrika (1720-1782), and the costumes worn at the swedish court during
that time. I am based in London, do you know where to look?
Thank you

Dear cam74,

There are several possible sources for pictures of the queen.

First of all, there are some web resources:

THE QUEEN LOVISA ULRIKA COLLECTION OF NUMISMATIC LITERATURE
<http://www.numislit.com/Front%20Cover%20b.jpg>

And a slightly better picture of the same at dress: -

Lovisa Ulrika av Preussen
<http://w1.182.telia.com/~u18207700/lovisaulrika.jpg>

Another dress:
Lovisa Ulrika
<http://www.martling.pp.se/drottningar/d17.jpg>

A third dress:
Lovisa Ulrika
<http://www.newchurch.org/swedenborg/anecdotespics/queen.jpg>
<http://sv.wikipedia.org/upload/5/52/Lovisa_Ulrika_av_Preussen%2C_m%E5lad_av_Lorens_Pasch_dy.jpg>
in a picture by Lorens Pasch.

A fourth, from young age:
<http://www.fortunecity.com/victorian/dadd/1258/SWqueen/LovisaUlrika.html>
(apologies for the pop-ups)

Jewellery:

You could also contact Ms. Margareta Berglund-Hamngren (Email:
mailto:mailto:press@lsh.se or on +46-8-519 555 46), a spokeswoman for
The Royal Armoury in Stockholm. In the Royal Armoury there are several
interesting artefacts from the period, including costumes of Queen
Lovisa Ulrika (For example this rococo dress:
http://www.lsh.se/livrustkammaren/English/Pictures/bas.jpg).

Another expert is Dr. Merit Laine, whose professional address I've
been able to locate only in this cached Google page
<http://216.239.41.104/search?q=cache:HUR_hHsAsFQJ:www.c18.org/so/pages/sv3.html+%22merit+laine%22+OR+%22laine+merit%22&hl=en&ie=UTF-8>
and might be outdated. However, Dr. Laine is an art historian and
curator, so Ms. Berglund-Hamngren might have current information on
her.

18th century apparel or designs could be also found at:

Neoclassicism in the North: Swedish Furniture and Interiors 1770-1850
/ By Hakan Groth

Books by Carina Burman (fiction), who tried to visualise Sweden in the
18th century.

I hope that helped. My search terms:
"18th century" [Swedish OR Sweden] (various terms, such as : dress, gown, apparel)
"Lovisa Ulrika " (also on Google Images, http://images.google.com)
And for the addresses of the curator.

If you need any further clarifications on this answer, please let me
know before you rate/tip it.
