This is an urgent plea for tech support for my .mac account. I had 26
Photo Albums published to the web through my .mac account. Then,
today I was poking around in my iDisk and I didn't realize it, but I
deleted (I think?) the picture files that were linked to all the Photo
Albums! Now my Albums have captions, but all the photo links are
broken! How can i recover these photo files & where should I put the
recovered files, once I recover them?

Hello Squirrelover,

Hmm. From what I can determine from the support groups, Apple is not
able to restore files to your iDisk if you deleted them. For
reference, sign on to .Mac and check out
  http://discuss.mac.com/webx?13@192.98P9ajWRdhl.22@.3bba2b2a/2
  http://discuss.mac.com/webx?13@192.98P9ajWRdhl.18@.3bba517d/0
or search the discussion groups for recover deleted files.
[apparently there *are* backups, but they are for disaster recovery
only, not for users to requests individual file restores]

The administrators have reported problems with some users with access
to their iDisk. In that case, it may appear that the contents are
missing. If you have such a problem, you should report it in one of
the discussion groups.

The administrators have also offered to search the access logs if you
provide exact file names to see what action you may have done to
delete them [so you know what *not* to do in the future.

I know this does not directly answer your question, but may lead you
to a solution. Please advise if you want me (or another researcher) to
work on this further or if you need addional references to help
resolve this problem. I hope your pictures are still there (and not
really deleted).

Do you have your pictures in your iPhoto Library? If so, you can
re-publish them by doing the following:

1) Launch iPhoto. The program is located in /Applications/iPhoto
2) Click Organize near the bottom of the screen.
3) Select photos/albums that you wish to publish and click either
HomePage (for an online photo alblum) or .Mac Slides (for a slide
show).
4) Follow the on-screen prompts.

Hope this helps.
