Can you help me find language tapes on the web? I've looked (and
asked) at amazon and bn.com and they've not been helpful. I'm looking
for a book on tape (CD) in German, Russian, or any other language
really except English, Spanish, and Mandarin.

Also acceptable would be a learning language tape, but with no English
on it, such as for French people learning Danish. I know they must be
out there, but the source is esoteric.

I've also looked at amazon sites for other countries, but they are in
another language, so I can't easily find their books on tape. If you
know the language and want to read the site for me, and show me
exactly what links to click, then I could order them that way.

Actually I have a German acquaintance at the gym whom I'm going to ask
the next time I see him, so maybe not german either.

Hello greimalkin,

I've listed some language tapes for you in languages other than
Spanish, English or Mandarin. First I listed the learning style tapes,
then the book/prose type of tapes. Most appear to be offered in audio
tape or CD.

As far as searching in another language, you can use Google to
translate most pages. On Google's home page, click on "Language Tools"
to the right of the search box. Enter your choices,(Countries,
languages) and click "Google Search" Notice that most pages have a
[Translate this page....] to the right. Clicking this will translate
the page so you can understand it. Many non-English sites have an
"English Version" button as well, or an American or Brittish flag to
indicate they have an English language version.

Additionally, if you live in a large metropoiltan area, call your
library and see if they might have non-English books on tape/CD. Often
colleges and universities will have these as well.

Hope this helps you! If any part of my answer is unclear, or if I have
duplicated information you already had, please request an answer
clarification, and I will respond as soon as possible.

Obviously I meant "metropolitan" and not the garbled word I
fumble-fingered as "metropoiltan" !

Hi Crabcakes,

Wow that was fast-- thanks! The second set of links was what I wanted.
I would have preferred CD's but they were not to be found (bonus if
you can find them for me ;)

The language links didn't really help because I didn't find anything
that had **no English**; they were all for English speakers.

Thanks again!
L.

Have you tried going to the local versions of amazon eg www.amazon.de,
selecting Bücher then Hörbücher. It is then quite easy to search for
an author or title within that section.

I should add, even if you can't buy from amazon.de or wherever, you
then have an ISBN number for the item, you can take to your local
bookseller to special order the item.

Thanks Owain, that was helpful. I think I inadvertently ordered a
Harry Potter audiobook while I was clicking around :p
