Hi, I'm writing a graduate research paper on Italo Calvino's use of
symbolism, imagery and metaphor in his short fiction.  Can anyone
recommend a book or article that discusses his symbolism in short
fiction?  Or, if there isn't a specific book about this, can you
recommend any book or article that discusses the use of symbolism,
metaphor and imagery in short fiction, not necessarily his?

(I've google-d lots of keywords and "searched inside the book" on
Amazon.  I'm still not finding anything appropriate to help me).

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
