Hi sunnycode,

Reading through a discussion list for sapdb, I've come up with a few
possible solutions. The most common mistake seems to be trying to
start the database as root rather than logging in as the SAPDB user.

"Did you try to run as root? Try to run as the sapdb user."
http://listserv.sap.com/pipermail/sapdb.general/2001-January/000692.html

If that doesn't help, here are four more possible solutions.

RV: kernel exited with '2297' before reaching COLD state:
1) "User Address Space Size has to be 3Gb in the kernel config."
2) "Try to start the kernel from command line kernel DBNAME where
DBNAME is the name of the database instance you created before."
3) "Make sure you just replaced the kernel executable in an otherwise
running environment"
4) "'2297' could also mean that the kernel image was not executable"
http://listserv.sap.com/pipermail/sapdb.general/2002-December/010416.html

A few more discussions:

1) db installation (Kernel exited with '1' before reaching COLD state):
http://listserv.sap.com/pipermail/sapdb.general/2002-April/006123.html

2) sapdb connect performance..
http://listserv.sap.com/pipermail/sapdb.general/2002-October/008912.html

3) SAPDB SUSE 7.1
http://listserv.sap.com/pipermail/sapdb.general/2001-March/001063.html

If you are still having trouble, look into the knldiag-file located in
<indep data>/wrk/<db name>/, specifically lines with WRN & ERR. Join
the discussion list and send them a copy of your file, they seem
pretty good about trying to help.

SAPDB.GENERAL: a public discussion list for SAP DB:
http://listserv.sap.com/mailman/listinfo/sapdb.general

You can search the archive as I did, without joining the list, with
terms something like <sapdb 24994,ERR_RTE 2297 COLD state>

There are more discussion groups here:
http://listserv.sap.com/mailman/listinfo

I hope I've helped you find a solution - please let me know if I
should post this as an answer or if GA researchers should continue to
work on your question.

Sincerely,
hummer
