Panchox,
Thanks for your question. Computers can be frustratingly resistant to
our personal desires sometimes. Many browsers will "remember" what
has been entered into a form (such as the Google search bar) for easy
retrieval later one. But not everyone wants to keep such a list on
their desktops.
You can erase items in the pull-down list by the simple expedient of
pressing the delete button. This will erase the current highlighted
item, and advance you to the next one. By repeating the process you
can delete, or keep, whichever items you want (use the up and down
arrow keys to move throught the list if you don't want to delete an
item).
It is also possible to delete the entire set of stored items, but be
warned: IF YOU GO THIS ROUTE, YOU DELETE THEM NOT JUST FOR GOOGLE,
BUT FOR ANY SIMILARLY STORED ITEMS. For instance, you may notice as
you type your email address that it automatically "pops up" for easy
completion in many forms. If you erase the entire file, you will lose
this capacity.
The specifics of doing this depend on your particular browser. For
Internet Explorer 6.0 the procedure is this:
-Click on "Tools"
-Click on "Internet Options"
-Click on "Content"
-Click on "Autocomplete"
-Click on "Clear Forms"
This will erase all stored "autocomplete" lists like the one that
auto-fills your Goggle search bar.
Note that you can also erase all your stored passwords by checking the
appropriate box, if you so desire. You can also disable "autcomplete"
by unchecking the boxes for any (or all) of the functions listed.
Similar procedures apply to other browsers. Let me know if you need
details for any others, or if you need any aditional information.
Hope this helps.
