Greetings Brudenell:

Some interesting information regarding the poem on the Canadian $10
bill is presented at http://www.snopes.com/business/money/flanders.asp
concerning how many people apparently believed the poem began "In
Flander's fields where poppies grow..." This may be of interest to
you as you might be chasing an incorrect version of the original.

Also, see the painting by Robert Vonnoh at
http://bertc.com/subone/vonnoh.htm is titled "In Flander's field -
where soldiers sleep and poppies grow" (1890) - this title may have
also given rise to an incorrect version of the poem.

I'm speculating, of course, yet I wanted you to view these references
in case they prove to be of assistance.

Best regards,
journalist-ga

Interesting stuff! I'm checking the references.

By the way... the poem I seek is one that an Atlantic Canadian senior
citizen only partly remembers from many years gone by. Only the
opening lines are stuck in her head.

Thank you for your interest.

Best regards

Brudenell
