How often do abnormal (hpv) pap smears result in positive hpv test
results from a follow up coloscopy?

The real question here is, how often do automated testing of pap
smears result in false positives. Also, is a colpscopy a definitive
test for HPV, or does a specific tissue DNA test need to be performed
to prove the presence of HPV?

There is no answer at this time.

There are two types of Pap smears, ThinPrep and SurePath. Also, there
are other mitigating factors that appear to cause false positives such
as hormone treatments and birth control pills.
