I need help finding a basic book on urban planning law and
administrative processes - something that would probably be used by
1st year university planning students. It should contain information
on: Planning and Municipal Acts, official plans, plan amendments,
zoning bylaws, easements, variances, etc.

The book needs to be in one of the following contexts (in order of preference):
1) Vancouver-specific
2) BC-specific
3) Canada in general. That is the book defines/discusses the
above-listed terms and provides illustrative examples from a *variety*
of Canadian cities.

This is a $2.00 question, so all you need to do is provide 2 or 3
citations and maybe a few notes on the content.

Hi there,

The textbook "Planning Canadian Communities" by Gerald Hodge would
satisfy your 3rd preference above as it deals with planning in Canada
in general. It includes the information you specified above, such as
official plans, zoning, and variances. The book is one of two used in
the first year Urban and Regional Planning course at Ryerson
University in Toronto (http://www.ryerson.ca/programs/urban.html), the
other being "Land Use Planning Made Plain" by Hok-Lin Leung, which you
may find useful as well.

I'm a few months too late to answer your question, but hopefully
you'll find this information useful anyways!
