The main question that I am researching is: Do ?sheltered programs? like ESL help Hispanic immigrant students to be successful in their schooling or do these programs actually hinder them (since they are getting more basic lesson plans and are surrounded by classmates that speak their native language)? And the other one which relates to the first question is: How does the learning experience of these immigrant students compare to an American exchange student who chooses to go abroad with a program to study a second language in another country (thus being the only English speaker in the classroom)? Thank you. |
