Please see the pictures at the following link ("Copy" & "Paste" into your browser if not clickable): http://nutritionist.tripod.com/whoisartist.html The picture with the man (peasant?) walking down the path with gardening tools over his shoulder looks so familiar, and the name is hard to make out in lower right corner...at first I thought it said ansell adams, but he did photography in parks, etc., I thought. then thought first name may be Emil?? last looks like Adam, can you tell me whether ansell adams may have done a work like this, or who this is done by and title?? In is also imprinted with "Doll & Richards, Boston" on lower left of picture, they were in operation from 1863-1973 approx. The other of peasant girl sitting in a field looks as though the last name is georges laugle? langle?? not sure...anyone know author and title of print?? The last is a small picture, appears to be watercolor? Doesn't appear to be as significant as other two, but looks like signed name is GMDonsdrie??? Thanks so much! | |

Hello there, I wish I had more information for you, the site worked fine for me. My monitor is very large and very clear, and I can see the name on the last print as being "GMxxxxx" (Hard to make out after the M.) I wanted to comment because the url you gave worked just fine. Good Luck to you in your search, tlspiegel-ga |

Even the smallest and "least clear" monitor is capable of zooming-in and/or producing a "false-color" image to make out details. The problem here is that there isn't enough resolution in the images. Of course, since the original asker of the question can't make it out using the *actual prints*, I doubt that any digital image of them would help. (And yes, the url works, but Tripod isn't exactly a reliable server.) |

The first 2 paintings are definitely done by Georges Laugee (1853-1928). Good luck! |

Yes, I believe the picture of the peasant girl sitting is Georges Laugee, thanks for the information...this signature pictured does appear to be that! However, the first picture, of man walking on path with gardening tools over shoulder, signature in lower right does not look anything like that, and I cannot get a good enough picture of it to post. Thank you so much!! Which you were a researcher and could benefit from your partial answer! |

It appears to me that we can identify at least the first 3 letters in the artists name for the last print GMD. It seems that he used the last stroke of the "M" as the first stroke for the "D." After that you can identify the two upper case "E's." The letter that has the upstroke must be a "d." The letter with the downstroke is difficult, maybe a "g." The two blobs, of course could be "o's,""u's," etc. The letter after what I think is the "d," could be an "i," if you'll notice the dot off the right. It may not be of much help, but again I believe the artist's last name begins with a "D." |
