Question ID: 278125
I bought a scooter with a two cycle 43cc engine on it, and it goes
just fine as long as I don't go up a steep hill. I would like to
increase the power of this little engine. I have heard that there are
some modificatons that can be made to give these engines more spunk.
Please give me some detailed information on several simple
modifications I can perform to increase the power from this little two
stroke. I have some mechanical ability so please list and link me to
some possibilities and the instructions on how to do it.

I have found bolt on modifications which supposedly will increase the
top speed from 25 to 35 MPH on a particular brand of 43cc scooter. I
assume that instructions would come with the kit. However, I don't
know if this would fit your scooter. If this is what you are looking
for, could you give an exact description of the scooter which you have
(manufacturer, name, etc.).

Thanks Redhoss for your response.

I have a couple of bikes so lets just take the Boreem racing Tankman
with the Chinese Mitsubishi 43cc two stroke engine and left exit
exhaust. There are some numbers on it but hard to make out. The
first letters may be chinese caracters or difficult to read numbers "#
288287 is as close as I can get.

I will be away for the holiday week but look forward to any response
when I return 7 days from now.

JK, those are very cool looking scooters. I have a feeling that since
yours is the racing version that you probably have all the speed
components available. I couldn't find exact specs for the racing
version. However, here is a link to some exhaust system and
carburetor/intake add on components.

redhoss,

Although the scooter is labeled "racing", it is in name only. It
looks hot, but I was able to increase the climbing ability
considerably by simply removing the second exhaust and pipe (it had a
primary one close to the engine). The sound was not much louder and it
went better, so I guess the chrome exhaust is just for looks. I
checked out the site your found for the place in San Diego and what I
am looking for is out there somewhere because they sell kits or do
modifications (for more than I paid for the entire scooter). If you
come up with the information on how to do these modifications myself
it would please me to the max. I also saw that I may be able to get
over 50cc's out of my 43.
