If you are looking for a list of large coal-fired power plants that
produce electricity, it might be possible to provide a list of 40 such
plants with general contact information.

It seems unlikely though, that a researcher would be able to track
down the specific contact information for the maintenance dept at each
plant...this info may not be online, and the plants themselves may not
be willing to make it available without knowing the purpose of the
query.

You might want to consider revising your request to ask just for the
list of plants and general contact information -- you could then
contact the plants themselves for access to the maintenance staff.

Just a suggestion....

Hello Tommyh,
I have found a directory listing companies that own coal-fired power
plants in the Western region of the United States, showing 30+
companies. This list most likely shows the addresses of the company
head offices rather than the maintenance departments (which I'm sure
will still pass through the main office address). Would this, with the
addition of more companies owning coal plants, be satisfactory as an
answer?

Pafalafa - thank for the input, I take on board your points...

Techtor - in view of Pafalafa's and your own points we would be very
happy to accepts a list of 40+ coal fired power stations and their
head office's contact details as a complete answer - thanks for your
help.

Greetings Tommyh,
I think I barely made 40 on this list, but I believe these might be
the most accessible companies that handle coal-fired power plants. I
collected all the instances where I saw coal-fired plants mentioned on
webpages, so I list them here. I may have not listed all since there
were webpages that linked to other pages that could show other
companies, but I think you could find your way to them from the pages
I've listed here.

Western Region Ash Group:
This is the first result I got. This is a list of companies that are
members of a coal ash recycling organization, and I believe some of
them are power producers/plant holders.

- Entries in red are the power plant companies.

Techtor

Many thanks for this - it gives us a good start. We will qualify them
by starting calling today.

Thank you for answering the question.

On a different note - you may have noticed that I posted 3 other
questions and have had no comments or answers - have you any idea why
this is? (Is it too complex or have I not offered a high enough
reward...?)

Keep up the good work

Tommy

I'm very thankful for the five-star rating!

With regard to your other questions I just have two observations: one,
they seem especially difficult (usually the case when dealing with top
companies, top products, top this, etc.); two, they are not quite
attractively priced. I hope you take these points into consideration
so your questions will be noticed. Again, thanks.

I was very pleased with the answer - particularly the clarification of
what would be acceptable in advance of its posting - a very
proffessional approach.

I work for a company that operates power plants and the contact for
maintenance depends on the type of maintenance you are talking about.
Are you talking about recurring stuff or outages? You are going to
find out that the contacts are at the plant and the corporate level.
It depends on how the type of work to be perform. General maintenace
is at the plant level but for outage work maybe done by a traveling
group (at a corporate level).

The top companies are most likely the top utilities. Good Luck.

Thank you Leskowitz for your input.

I agree absolutely with your comments.

I am CEO for a small company in the UK that has a filtration device
that we have sold to many of the UK coal fired power stations to
improve transmission reliability (either on the coal crushing plants
or the extraction transmissions).

We cannot afford a US based salesforce so we were hoping to approach
them from the UK - hence my question.

Any contacts that you might have would be very gratefully received!

Many thanks
Tom
