one of my clients' businesses sells services to corporate executives
that have been layed off. his typical prospect is looking for both a
new career and possibly a business to own. typically, the prospect was
downsized from an industry that's shrinking/struggling.

fyi, his second biggest typical prospect is a former business owner that has
recently sold using a business broker. they are intrigued by the
business brokerage business and would consider getting into it.

client needs more leads. needs suggestions on how to reach these
prospects with a solicitation using advertising/marketing/internet
resources.

bonus will be up to $95 if response is creative, thorough and in a
form that i can cut and paste into a proposal for my client.

Hi holguinero-ga!

Here are my proposals for an answer:

a.) I have found websites which has resume databases of executives but
you will need to pay separately to access these sites. Furthermore,
not all executives who submit their resumes here are unemployed. They
could be just looking for a fresh start or a way to further market
themselves. Now would that be an acceptable answer for the first
prospect?

2.) I have found websites providing ad services for those who want to
sell their businesses. You will have to register to get the contact
info of the business seller. Some websites you can have the
information for free while others require a separate payment for you
to have access to the data. Will this be acceptable for the second
prospect as well?

Thanks!

no, the client is already very aware of the post-a-resume angle and
has been disappointed with the response rate there.

the places to sell a business might be useful if you can give me a
thorough list starting at the top of what's most popular. they would
have to be sites that allow advertising.

Dear holguinero,

Advertising in a newspaper read by many in the industry, like the
Financial Times or the Economist (as well as WSJ), could help.

Hiring a head-hunter would probably be the best solution in the
excutive level, and if you'll notice, this is also what companies do
to recruit this kind of people.
