Below are the results of my research for ?International Orphan Children's Day?.
Apparently, there is a day for orphans on November 1st. However, the
day is called ?World Orphan Achievement Day?.
?A number of organizations and individuals dedicated to caring for
orphans have teamed up to declare November 1st World Orphan
Achievement Day with the purpose of highlighting the accomplishments
of orphans worldwide. The date was chosen in order to coordinate with
Adoption Awareness Month which has long been celebrated in November.
Highlighting the achievements of orphans will create role model
experiences for today?s orphaned children, giving them something to
reach for themselves and spreading the message that being an orphan
doesn't have to be an impediment to a successful life??
(?)
?For those of us who spent time in an orphanage or foster home as a
child, it is time to be proud of our accomplishments in life despite
the loss of family as a child. It is important to celebrate what we
have done with our lives afterwards and we should be proud of how far
we have come??

Another interesting find:
?The Pacific Rim Institute For Development & Education is a (501-C3)
tax-exempt, charitable, non governmental organization accredited by
the United Nations. PRIDE is working to establish and "International
Orphan's Day" on behalf of the abandoned children and orphans the
world over, who have no rights and no voice. This resolution was to
186 government representatives at the Fourth UN conference in Beijing
in September, 1995.?
However nothing further seems to have been done about it. More about
it can be found at their website.

National Adoption Awareness Month also falls in November.
?National Adoption Week was proclaimed in Massachusetts in 1976. The
number of states declaring a special week to recognize adoption
gradually increased. This led to the inception of National Adoption
Month in 1990. The purpose of National Adoption Month is to focus
attention on the increasing numbers of children in the child welfare
system waiting to be adopted??

-The History of Adoption Month-
?Formalized, time-specific adoption awareness campaigns originated
more than 20 years ago. In May 1976, Massachusetts Governor Michael
Dukakis issued the first state Adoption Week proclamation, and
President Ford then officially proclaimed the week in a letter to the
North American Council on Adoptable Children (NACAC) conference held
later that year. As years went on, Adoption Week came to be observed
during the week of Thanksgiving in November??

-National Adoption Day-
?On Saturday, November 22, an unprecedented number of courts across
the country will open their doors to finalize the adoptions of
thousands of children from foster care and to celebrate all families
who adopt??
?National Adoption Day brings hundreds of volunteer lawyers, foster
care professionals, child advocates and local judges together on one
special day to expedite the adoption process and give children in
foster care the permanent, loving families they deserve??

?CCAI is proud to be a founding partner of National Adoption Day. On
the Saturday before Thanksgiving, in courtrooms across the country;
lawyers, social workers, officials, parents, and children come
together to finalize adoptions out of foster care, and to celebrate
all adoptive families.?

-The United Kingdom celebrates National Adoption Week from November 3rd to 9th-
?National Adoption Week is now in its seventh year. It was initiated
by BAAF Adoption & Fostering in 1997 and, since then, each year has
presented an opportunity to raise awareness about adoption and
highlight the need for more adopters.?
