I am looking for a device that I seen in a catalog I recieved. I
can't remember which company offered these. These are not glasses.
The device allows a person to lay flat in a bed and watch television
or read as if the person is sitting up vertically. They resemble a
device that has a band that fits around a person's head and has a
visor like device that fits over the eyes. The device is not the
"I-HRV featured in the Techno-Scout catalog.

My daughter in-law is having complications with her pregnancy and must
remain in the hospital laying flat for several months until she has
her baby and I thought this device would make it a little easier for
her. Your assistance is appreciated.

Hello.

My guess is that the device that you saw was some form of what are
called "bed specs" or "reclining spectacles." See this photo of such a
device:

Here are several of these devices available for online purchase:

"Reclining Spectacles
Originally designed for hospital patients unable to sit up, these
special prism spectacles enable you to read or watch TV while lying
flat on your back. Also known as Nap Glasses, or Bed Specs, these
special glasses provide an interesting binocular view! Includes soft
vinyl case with belt loop."

"Bed Specs
Watch TV, read or look across the room.
An excellent aid for bedridden patients."

Search strategy:
"flat on your back", "watch tv"

I hope that these are the sort of products that you had in mind. If
not, please let me know via the "request clarification" feature. I
will gladly resume my search if necessary.

Best wishes to you, your daughter-in-law, and your future grandchild!
