I?m thinking of buying HP iPAQ Pocket PC with either 266MHz or 400MHz
processor. The main purpose of buying it is to use it with street
atlas software (PDA edition) with GPS. The question is whether the
processor?s speed matters for Street Atlas software. I could not find
an answer on HP website. Thank you.

Hi january72,

Yes, the processor?s speed matters for Street Atlas to function

Hi january72,

The 150MHz is the minimum requirement for the Street Atlas USA® 2004
Handheld, the key word being "handheld". Try following along with me
so you can compare the difference between the system requirements for
the regular PC software and the Pocket PC software.

1) DESKTOP: Street Atlas USA® 2004:
http://www.delorme.com/streetatlasusa/default.asp

2) Click on "System Requirements":

3) Street Atlas USA® 2004: System Requirements
* Personal computer with Intel® Pentium ll (or equivalent) 233 MHz or
higher processor (300 MHz recommended)
http://www.delorme.com/streetatlasusa/sysreq.asp

4) Click on "For use with Pocket PC or Palm OS handhelds":

5) POCKET PC: Street Atlas USA® 2004 Handheld:
"Create address-to-address routes anywhere in the U.S. directly on
Pocket PC and Palm OS handheld computers!"
"Now experience the added security of always having exactly the maps
you need, conveniently accessible on your handheld computer."
"Much more than simply maps, this powerful software brings many
capabilities previously only possible on desktop PCs to the world of
handheld computer mapping."
http://www.delorme.com/streetatlasusahandheld/default.asp

6) Click on "System Requirements":

7) Street Atlas USA® 2004 Handheld: System Requirements
* Personal Computer with 150 MHz or higher processor

Therefore, I'm confident that the system requirements I gave you are
for a Pocket PC. However, please remember that they are the *minimum*
requirements and it's always wise to place yourself well above minimum
figures.

Please let me know if you have any other questions - I'll be here for
the rest of the evening and will be happy to assist you. There is no
limit to the number of clarification requests you can make!

Sincerely,
hummer
