Are asphalt shingles a valid method for leveling depressions in a subfloor to ready it for hardwood, and if so, how is should it be done and will there be a "crunching" sound when walking on the floors due to the gravel found on shingles? I've found only one article about using asphalt shingles: http://www.askthebuilder.com/486_Getting_a_New_Hardwood_Floor_Level.shtml |

I have heard people laying down 30 lb roofing felt but not shingles. |
