Question ID: 279493
I have a canon digital still camera that can take 3 minute digital video clips.

I have a small bunch of 3 minute video clips from the same birthday
party. Am wondering if there is an easy way to connect them together
so I don't need to load them one at at time when I want to view them?

Hi,

There is a way, but this is more or less easy depending on the format.
Do you know what format the movie is in, or failing that what is the
file extension? If your camera produces .mov files, you would need
Quicktime Pro which costs $30. If you are ok with that I can then give
you the instructions on how to merge your video files.

Thanks.

It is a Canon Powershot camera - the video files it produces have an
extension of *.avi.

Hi,

Thank you for your question.

After doing a bit of research, your camera seems to save files in the
MJPEG format. You can use VirtualDub for your task. Please download
VirtualDub from:

VirtualDub download page
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/virtualdub/VirtualDub-1.5.9.zip?download

How to merge your video files:

1-) open VirtualDub->file->open video file->browse to the first video
file in the sequence and choose open.

This should open your video file in VirtualDub.

Then please do the following:

2-) File->Append AVI segment->browse to the second video file in the
sequence you want and choose open.

Please repeat step 2-) with all the video files you have.

Generate merged video file:

3-) In the menu options please choose video->direct stream copy, then
file->save as AVI, then choose your location/filename and press
'save'.

This should have the effect of producing a single file with all your
previous files appended.

I hope this answers your question, if you need any more help please do
not hesitate to ask.

Thank you for using Google Answers.

Regards,
endo
