The Pennsylvania Department of Education has detailed information on
the Pennsylvania Alternative Certification Program.  It is designed
for individuals with non-education degrees who meet certain
requirements.  It is a statewide program and not county/city or
subject specific.  However, it depends on the willingness of a
particular public school entity to form a collaborative unit with a
teacher preparation institution and to employ a particular candidate
as a teacher intern.
