I am doing a project on La Sottie du Prince des Sots et de Mère Sottes
(also known as Le JEu du PRince des Sotz) by Pierre Gringore. I
wanted to know if there were any modern french language versions or
translations available since the old french is very difficult to
understand or if there are any articles or books in French or English
which could give some light into this sottie (comic plays in MEdieval
Theater.) Any information or internet links would be greatly
appreciated. Also, i am in a severe rush so the sooner the better. i would
really like to get something by tomorrow morning or early afternoon at the latest.

Hi,

What is the ISBN of the book you already have?

I've found several stores selling this version:
http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/2745304755/qid%3D1069646011/sr%3D1-2/ref%3Dsr%5F1%5F0%5F2/402-0220562-1664162/kelkoo-hits-book-21/402-1002037-3127323

Although nothing I've read in the description seems to indicate that
it has been simplified or reworded.

Even very renowned plays by Molière are not translated into modern
French as far as I know. There are school versions of them, explaining
obscure words on the footnote or at the back.

Thanks.

You may want to read an introduction published in 1901. Here the play
is given a different title: "Sottie contre le Pape Jules II". (See
especially pages 107-110)

Good luck! Leli
