Hi lgersh,

The following is the result of my research for famous people who
failed the bar exam the first time.

John F. Kennedy Jr

?Kennedy takes his job seriously. He works long days and keeps George
galleys on his night table. It is not what many expected from a man
who twice failed the New York bar exam (one headline said "the hunk
flunked")?

Hillary Clinton

?"But there it is on page 64 of Hillary's own memoir, "Living
History": her confession that she flunked the D.C. bar exam:
"I was lonely and missed Bill more than I could stand. I had taken
both the Arkansas and the Washington, D.C., bar exams during the
summer, but my heart was pulling me toward Arkansas. When I learned
that I had passed in Arkansas but failed in D.C., I thought that maybe
my test scores were telling me something."?

Ed Koch- Former NYC Mayor

?When he failed his bar exam, I wrote him a note. I told him, "Don't
feel badly. I failed my bar exam, too, and it didn't stop me from
becoming mayor."?

Edith S. Sampson

First African American Delegate to the United Nations,
First Black Woman Elected Judge in the U.S.

?Mrs. Sampson graduated from law school in 1925 and failed the
Illinois bar exam. She attributed this to overconfidence and called it
"the best thing that could have happened to me."9 She said that it
made her want to work even harder to become a lawyer.10 Therefore, she
enrolled in the Loyola University Law School graduate degree program
to obtain her L.L.M. At the same time, she continued to work full-time
during the day, this time as a probation officer for the Cook County
Juvenile Court. She completed her degree in 1927 and was admitted to
the Illinois bar in the same year.?

Marion G. "Pat'' Robertson

?Robertson is the host of "The 700 Club," a ninety-minute daily
religious talk show. More than that, however, he is the president and
chief executive officer of the Christian Broadcasting Network, which
owns four television stations and five radio stations, has a staff of
800, and aims to become, through satellite distribution, this
country's fourth commercial television network??
(?)
?By his own admission, Robertson was a tortured man after finishing
Yale Law School. He failed to pass the New York bar exam, claiming his
heart wasn't in it.?

General Lew Wallace

?Lew Wallace is best known for his literary masterpiece, Ben-Hur,
which he wrote in 1880.?
(?)
?Born in Brookville, Indiana, on April 10, 1827, Wallace was headed
for a life in the military and in politics. His first attempt for
success as a lawyer was futile, for in 1846, he failed the bar exam.
This was seemingly justified, though. He was anxious to be off to the
Mexican War. In 1849, he found himself once again taking the bar exam
finally to be admitted before the Indiana Supreme Court.?

Jack E. Robinson, III- Candidate for the United States Senate

?I graduated from law school in 1985. However, I didn?t pass the bar
in Massachusetts until 1991. The delay is due to the fact that I took
the New York and Texas bar exams twice and flunked both times.?
