Ive got a 2nd hand Compaq Deskpro EN. problem is that i dont have the
compaq version of Windows that was meant for it - I only have a
generic version of Windows 98. the compaq website doesn't give the
drivers because they presume your using their version of Windows
(which has them already).

The mainboard is a specific compaq one that contains graphics and
sound and network. where could I go to find the drivers?

Windows 98 will install but the graphics/sound/network doesn't work.

Hi scotew, which Deskpro EN do you have? For example, PC 6450, c566 or
p650. Thanks, hummer

Hi scotew-ga,

You'll find a list of drivers here:

http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/Deskpro/us/family/16.html?submit.y=6&submit.x=5&cc=us

* Select Product Model
* Select Microsoft Windows 98
* Select a Category

I hope you find all that you need on this website - sorry, I can't
give you more specific information without knowing which model you
have. If you have any questions, please post a clarification request
before rating my answer.

Thank you,
hummer

its a PIII866.

im very familiar with the web site link you gave me - ive been there
before and scoured very driver but they r all for other extra PCI
components. As I said in the original question 'The mainboard is a
specific compaq one' and i need the driver for that, which would also
contain the drivers for the inbuilt sound and video and network. these
r not Nvidia or SoundBlaster. the mainboard in also built in such a
way that if I want the PCI slots to work I need the mainboard driver -
which compaq doesn't supply.

sorry if I didn't make it more obvious in the question but I was
hoping someone might know of a souce for the driver to run the
mainboard.

I asked the GA editors again today to remove my answer - I'm sorry it
is taking so long. I don't know what the delay is - I haven't heard
anything from them. hummer

Scotew, just a note to let you know that I received a nice note from
the GA editors today regarding your question and whether or not they
should remove my answer. Since everyone seems happy, all will remain
as is - I trust that is ok with you. Take care, hummer
