Mixed environment: Windows 2003 DC, NT4 BDC. Using 3rd party VPN
client (Sonicwall Global VPN client). The VPN tunnel appears to be
working perfectly. I can connect immediately and log into network. My
problem is this:
I can only log in with one persons account. I have been unable to log
in as anyone else, including the Administrator account. The user
account that I have been able to log in with is a member of the Admin
groups. I tried to add a different user to the Admin groups, but it
made no difference. Still didn't work. I have gone through settings on
the '03 server until I'm blue in the face, and I have not been able to
resolve this. When I attempt to log in with all other user accounts, I
get an error that either the user name or password is incorrect, but
it isn't the case. HELP

Hi,

Sorry if this is stuff you already know or is irrelevant.

To Allow the Server to Accept Remote Access Clients
Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Routing and
Remote Access.
Double-click the server object, and then click Remote Access Policies.
Right-click Connections to Microsoft Routing and Remote Access server,
and then click Properties.
Click Grant remote access permission, and then click OK.
Close Routing and Remote Access.

endo-ga, thanks for the input. It does not apply to this situation,
however. This is not the MS VPN (RAS), but a 3rd party VPN product.
The VPN product appears to be working great.I'm just having the
authentication problem I mentioned, for all users but one. In case
there was a link though, I had already tried the Remote Access enable
option in User Manager.

I responded here as I had no idea how to contact you as requested. I'm
new to this and am not sure what the protocols are. Thanks again.

Hi,

Thank you for your response.
The clarification you posted is the correct way to contact a researcher.

I'll try and locate some more information.
Just for diagnosis purposes, do you have the same problem with the MS
VPN? If this is impractical to test, nevermind.

Thanks.

Hello,
The actual problem is with your VPN client. I have spent many hours
working/fighting with the Sonicwall VPN client. Cut your losses and
abandon the Sonicwall VPN client.
