This sounds more like consulting/contracting/IT
outsourcing/programming - SERVICES - not software itself. This will
have a big impact on the answer, because services have a higher cost
to service revenue as compared to pure software which has little/no
cost to deliver/service the sale of software.
Commissions in the software industry and the IT services industry vary
dramatically based upon typical factors such as 1) the maturity of the
specific market, 2) the age of the company selling the software or
service, 3) the average selling price of the software or service
offered for sale, 4) technical complexity of the sale, 5) the
competition.
Typical commissions for pure software sales range anywhere from 7% -
15% of the sale price, with some companies providing non-recoverable
draws for the first six months in order to overcome the sales rep's
trepidation of the new
products, channels, and messages.
