I am trying to find a movie advertisement that ran in the New York
Times and other print publications (mostly newspapers) about 1-3 years
ago. It had quotes from
movie reviewers on it (i.e., "so-and-so was awesome in this movie! --
roger ebert) and one of the quotes/reviewers was from my wife, who was
reviewing movies for a maganzine at the time. I am trying to
figure out how I can get a copy of the actual advertisement as I want
to frame it and give it to my wife as a present. Any suggestions on how to try and
find archives for old adversing copy or how to find this advertisement
specifically? (unfortunately i cannot remember the name of the movie)

Something like this MIGHT be find-able through some text-based
searches IF you remember any of the actual text in the ad. Do you
remember the phrases that were quoted from your wife's review (or any
other text from the ad)?

If not, what is the name of the magazine your wife worked for?

Lastly, what is her FIRST name (do not post her last name, as this
might violate policy for the GA service).

We'll see what we can find out...!

I'm making this difficult by not remembering any of the key details
around the movie or her quote. However, she worked for Esquire
Magazine and her first name is Elizabeth.

Does this ring a bell, perhaps...?

Yes, I had actually found that as well. She reviewed many movies and
her quotes were often used, so my guess is that there may be multiple
movies that can work here (so i don't think we need to limit search to
that one movie). So..... the actual hard copy of the back issue of
the movie ad (either for that movie or another) that ran in a
newspaper, with one of her quotes on it, is what i'm looking for. I
guess another way to do this would be to look up all movies she
reviewed in Esquire and then only search for ad copy for those movies?
I guess what I wasn't able to figure out -- away from her specific
copy -- is if there is a way to actually track down old print ad
copy...couldn't figure out how to do that even generically.

Greetings Nov2003:

See review of "The Deep End" at
http://www.thecinemalaser.com/archives/2002/0302/news-tidbits.htm
"the film is a thriller that actually thrills!" (Elizabeth...)
and
The Big List of Pull Quotes 2001
http://www.thehotbutton.com/today/hot.button/2001_thb/index_quotes_b.html
Mentions Elizabeth and the movies "Keep The River on Your Right,"
"Chopper" and "The Deep End" - it might have been one of these in a
print ad.

Good luck and I hope this information proves to be of assistance.
What a great gift to give her if you can locate it! :)

Best regards,
journalist-ga
