I have a G400 Macintosh running OS 9.2.2. I use Eudora 6.0.1 for
email. I often paste pictures into email messages to send to friends,
many of whom use PCs. About one third to half of these people send
me back email telling me that they view the pictures. These pictures
include both jpeg formats and picts. What information can I send
these people and in what circumstance so that they will be able to
view these pictures?

For some recipients, my sending images as an attachment works and for
some recipients , my sending images does does not work. That is not a
very satisfying answer. What I am looking for is a "reliable path of
translation" that will allow a jpeg sent on a macintosh to a PC using
eudora to be opened properly. I suspect that the problem is that the
PC owner does not have the proper software. After some discussion, I
have found that experienced PC users have no problems but that new PC
users almost all have problems. I have never been a PC user but have
used macintoshes for the past 15 years. Therefore, I don't have the
proper PC experience which might allow me to diagnose the problem.

I see no new comment. By the way , my Macintosh is a G4 not a
G400

3 things to try:

1) Go to settings->Attachments and make sure you have "AppleDouble
("MIME") selected.

2) Make sure the pictures have .jpg at the end (eg: picture.jpg).

3) Go to settings->Attachments and turn off "Always include Macintosh
information" (may be only OS X).

If there are still problems, I would think that the receving PC is not
configured properly to open jpg files.

1) Go to settings->Attachments and make sure you have "AppleDouble
("MIME") selected.
1. I have Uuencode data fork checked with "Always include Macintosh
information" checked"

2) Make sure the pictures have .jpg at the end (eg: picture.jpg).
2. the pictures all already have .jpg at the end.

3) Go to settings->Attachments and turn off "Always include Macintosh
information" (may be only OS X).
3. I have now done as you suggest and turned of check

If there are still problems, I would think that the receving PC is not
configured properly to open jpg files.
At least one person has had their technical department modify his/her
PC configuration with success.

Thanks to drrjv-ga for his/her suggestions.
