Hi,

You might want to run a virus scan with housecall:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com

And a spyware scan with Spybot:

Thanks.

Re-loaded Windows 98SE, fixed that problem, loaded spy ware, etc and
fixed more problems, loaded McAfee, caused more problems. It is now
operational but who knows what is next?

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Hi, bigfatman-ga:

It certainly sounds like a Trojan has gotten installed on your system.
In addition to the links mentioned by endo-ga, I've found this
helpful in actually removing a lot of these kinds of problem files
from my kids' computer:

[Lavasoft's Adaware 6]
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

The home site for Patrick Kolla's Spybot (spyware detection and
removal tool for which endo-ga suggested one of many download sites)
is here:

[PepiMK Software: Spybot Search & Destroy]
http://spybot.eon.net.au/

It's fairly new but well reviewed by PC Magazine.

If these automated tools do not detect and/or resolve your problem,
you'll probably want to escalate to a human approach. If you are
knowledgeable, you can check your Win98 registry for mention of the
jjqp.exe file and perhaps locate the root of the infestation.
Otherwise have someone familiar with registry searches take a look at
your machine.

regards, mathtalk-ga
