Where is a good place to buy an old model iPod?

Is there a place to get a factory second, discounted, or used ver?
Doesn?t matter if it is a Mac or PC ver, but PC is preferred. No need
for cables, CD, or power supply.

1 - Where is the best place to get a good price on a 10 gig iPod, the old model?
2 - How about a black neoprene cover case for it?
3 - Where is the best place to get a good price on a 10 gig iPod, the
new model? Are prices the same everywhere?

Thanxs in advnce

Hi,

Thank you for your question. The ipod is certainly a very desirable
device (I wish I had one :) ).

Here are some answers to your questions:

1-) By "best place" I assume you mean "best price" :). Macresq have
the 10Gb old model for $190 these are demonstration models at a very
good price:
http://www.macresq.com//store/detail.php?prodID=P009950

The Apple Store used to have several models for sale in the Special
Deals section, but they are currently out of stock, you never know
when they might restock.

http://store.apple.com
Then click on Special Deals in the bottom left of the page.

Compusa has the old 10Gb one for the Mac at $200

There is of course eBay as well:

2-) MeritLine have a carrying case for a good price:

The Apple Store also has a range in their Special Deals section mentionned above.

Here are a few carrying cases from Compusa, they're not all black, but
in case you found one of them suiting your needs.

3-) There are no special deals at the moment, Dell used to stock them
and had a 10% discount, there was also a $25 rebate a few days ago
(literally Friday). Also rebates and deals crop up every 2 weeks or
so. But here is what is available now:

Compusa new 10Gb for $300

If you work in education (are a student or a teacher) you can get
about 10% off at the Apple Store placing the 10Gb at $269:

Amazon has it for $285

I hope this answers your question, if you need any more help or
clarifications please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks.

Hi there - Being a retail employee (Best Buy), I know these have been
in high demand. Another alternative is to find open box/return items
of the said iPods. I know that we have three open box iPods - two 15
gig models and one of the second generation 20 gig "Mac/Windows"
versions. Call around and see what you can dig up for another
alternative.

There is also the possibility of buying a "as-is" ipod on ebay (they
go for a lot less) and count on being able to either fix it (resetting
or re-initializing) or re-sell it for a similar price. See:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61771 and search on
ebay for "ipod exclamation." That's my plan, anyhow. Don't all do this
at once, though, lest we drive prices back up again... :)
